Why take the Hong Kong Airport Express Train?
How do I get to downtown Hong Kong from the airport? You are probably thinking about this if you’re in the middle of planning your trip. While you can take the bus or a private airport transfer to get to your hotel, nothing beats the Hong Kong Airport Express in terms of speed and cost. A one-way private vehicle transfer from HKIA to Hong Kong Station starts at around $50. If you’ll be traveling as a group of three people, that would be around $17 per person. However, taking the Hong Kong Airport Express train to Central Hong Kong will only cost $8 per person, if not discounted. What’s more, you can get free access to WiFi and power charging service inside the trains. (At train stations, you’ll find ATMs, charging stations, free WiFi, drinking water, and more.)
Another perk of taking the Airport Express train is in-city check-in. If you will fly with Cathay Pacific or Hong Kong Airlines, you can check in right away at either Hong Kong Station or Kowloon Station. (This is possible if your entire flight is operated by either airlines and if you hold a valid electronic document.)
